Nancy Correia Diemoz (Athlete, Class of 2006) While a student at Our Lady of Fatima High School, Nancy Correia was one of five girls named 1975 Rhode Island Girls Athlete of the Year by Women Sports magazine.
Following graduation she played on a number of women’s softball teams. In each of the seven years between 1975 and 1981 (while competing for Ma’s Girls of Newport, the Bristol Elks, and PM Tavern/Common Pub), she was a member of the Class A State championship squad.
During that same timeframe Nancy’s teams won the Tri-State League title and the Bristol Super Series championship, placed in a number of New England tourneys, and finished 4th at the 1980 National Championship.
Sometime later she took up golf. A member of Montaup Country Club, she has been that club’s Women’s Champion (4 times, the most recent in 2006), Member/ Member Tourney Champion (3 times), and WGA Tourney Champion (also 3 times). In both 1999 and 2000 she was named Montaup’s Player of the Year.
Nancy has also competed in and placed in a number of Women’s State Golf Championships Pictures Hall of Fame archives
