LILLIAN (LIL) A. DEBLOIS (Phyllis Abbruzzi Award Class of 2004, Posthumous)
Lil DeBlois was a founding member of the Warren Alumni and Booster Club, which she served in a variety of roles, including acting as its president in the 1961-62 school year. A member of the Warren High School cafeteria staff, she played a major role in staging innumerable banquets that honored the school’s student/athletes and/or raised money for various athletic programs. She was one of those who planned and constructed the original concession stand at Veterans Memorial Field, adjacent to what is now the Kickemuit Middle School. And she worked in that stand for many years “dishing out” hot dogs, candy, soda and advice to hungry fans. Likewise, during basketball and wrestling seasons, she was one of those who staffed the in-school concession operation. In 1969 the Warren High School Athletic Department honored her with an award for her service to both the department and the Alumni and Booster Club. (The Phyllis Abbruzzi Award is not automatically given each year. It is granted to people who primarily operated “behind the scenes” and did not receive the recognition that many of our other inductees have gotten.) Pictures from Hall of Fame Archives
