BONNIE O’BLENIS DION  (Athlete, Class of 2004)

At Quirk Junior High School Bonnie O’Blenis was a member of three consecutive state championship gymnastics teams.  In 1973 she finished first in the Intermediate Class Uneven Bars and second All-Around, while in her final (ninth grade) season she was the tops in the state in All-Around and Advanced Class Floor, Vault, and Uneven Bars.

Moving on to Warren High School, she was named All State and All Division in both her sophomore and junior years.  There doesn’t appear to be any doubt that she would have repeated this accomplishment in her final year if she hadn’t missed most of the season due to illness.

Finishing fifth All-Around in the state, Bonnie, along with fellow Hall of Fame members Mary Ellen Annunziata and Bonnie’s sister Pat, led Warren High School to the 1975 Eastern Division, Southeastern Regional, and State Gymnastics Championships.  And then in 1976 she was a member of the Eastern Division Champions that finished as the State Runner-Up.  In that latter season she finished the individual state competition with a sixth-place finish in the All-Around.

She later returned to Warren High School to coach the gymnastics team from 1983 to 1988.

And Bonnie was a member of the Women’s Softball League Playoff Champions Alegria’s/ACI in both 1983 and 1985.
